The Senators Hosts Benefit Concert to Fight Hunger in Arizona

The Senators, Feeding America, United Food Bank, Crescent Ballroom

On Thursday, July 25, satisfy your appetite for local music while helping feed those in need. Phoenix-based Americana band The Senators are headlining a concert and food drive benefiting Feeding America and the United Food Bank.

“We feel very lucky to be in a place that we can look at music as our career, and we’re really thankful that we have folks listening and coming out to shows,” says Jesse Teer of The Senators. “So, a lot of our desire to get involved with and serve that community here in Arizona, stems out of the appreciation we have for the city and state that supports us. I believe whole-heartedly that as a part of this community we’re obligated to give back.”

According to Teer, about one in five Arizonans live in poverty and nearly one million receive emergency food service annually. His thought is that by donating $5 a week, the cost of a pint of beer, 20 meals can be provided to those in need through United Food Bank.

The concert is sponsored by Four Peaks Brewing Co. and features performances by Dry River Yacht Club, Sara Robinson and the Midnight Special, Flamenco Por La Vida as well as The Senators.

Entry is $10 at the door with 100 percent of the proceeds going directly to United Food Bank. Guest are also encouraged to bring non-perishable canned goods. Those who participate will receive a free copy of The Senators’ debut album Harsher Than Whiskey/Sweeter Than Wine and be entered to win gift certificates and prizes donated by Crescent Ballroom and Stateside.

“We admire and respect each band that’s on the bill, not only for their music, but for their ability to connect with and to build community,” says Teer. “We have a lineup of great musicians with great hearts involved for this one, and we are extremely grateful that everyone is on board – it’s going to be a great show and a great event because of it. We hope lots of folks come out and support!”

Tickets to the 21+ show can be purchased here. Doors open at 7 P.M..
