Tempe Starving Artist Back to Print, Hosts Release Show at Long Wong’s

Tempe Starving Artist, TSA, zine, Phoenix zine, art zineTempe Starving Artist began in 2009 as a printed zine dedicated to showcasing local music and art. For two years, TSA would print thousands of issues spotlighting hundreds of local artists. In June 2011, the zine was put on hold. The focus was turned on producing more events and online content.

It has been more than a year since TSA’s print publication was paused, but beginning in November, the printed zine will continue where it left off. Equipped with new writers, event coordinators and editors, TSA is expected to come back stronger than before.

The revival includes:

  • Free monthly zines. Available at numerous locally owned shops.
  • A new website featuring local and national artists and musicians.
  • Community-oriented events, such as bike rides, book clubs and movie nights.
  • More festivals, concerts and D.I.Y. gallery shows and events. For example: Lazy Sunday Acoustic Festival and Phx FMLY Fest.

To celebrate the relaunch, TSA will host a release show for the first printed zine on Nov. 3 at Long Wong’s in Tempe. The free event will include live entertainment by All My Friends, Donny & the Dorks, Diners, Man-Cat and Clubc@z. The event is open to all ages before 10 P.M. and 21+ after 10 P.M..
