Two Music Films Hit Theaters This Week

Thursday brings The Beatles to downtown Phoenix and Friday brings hair bands to the big screen.

Yellow Submarine, an animated film originally released in 1968, has been digitally restored and was released on DVD and Blu Ray on June 5. However, if you’d like to see the Fab 5 on the big screen, with a drink in your hand, Filmbar will be showing the movie through the weekend.

Rock of Ages features some Hollywood bigwigs and is the film adaptation of the Broadway musical under the same title. The movie opens in theaters across the country on Friday and features music by some of the most well-known bands of the ’80s. If that doesn’t sell you, Tom Cruise demanded a monkey sidekick for the film. How can you pass that up?

See below for more information, including trailers and showtimes…

Plot: “Once upon a time… or maybe twice, there was an unearthly paradise called Pepperland, a place where happiness and music reigned supreme. But all that was threatened when the terrible Blue Meanies declared war and sent in their army led by a menacing Flying Glove to destroy all that was good. Enter John, Paul, George and Ringo to save the day! Armed with little more than their humour, songs, and of course, their yellow submarine, The Beatles tackle the rough seas ahead in an effort to bring down the evil forces of bluedom.”

Staring: John Lennon, Paul McCartney, George Harrison and Ringo Starr
