When you think of McDowell Mountain Music Festival, you may think of March, the time of the year when the big three-day event featuring local and national acts takes place. However, MMMF is doing more to bring music lovers fun events around Phoenix throughout the year. The first display of this effort is Yardstock Music Festival — a collaboration between MMMF, Little Cleo’s, Deschutes Brewery and Culinary Dropout — scheduled for Saturday, Oct. 18 at The Yard. The one-day event will include live performances from five local acts: Carvin Jones, Gus Campbell, Bryan Hawkesworth & Sydney Collins, The Hourglass Cats and Black Bottom Lights (acoustic). Of course a festival isn’t as festive without food and drinks, which will be provided by Culinary Dropout (all food sales will go to charity) and Deschutes. Because the event takes places at The Yard in Phoenix, there will be games, including cornhole, shuffleboard and table tennis.

Band set times:

3:30 P.M. – 5 P.M. Black Bottom Lighters (acoustic)
5 P.M. – 6:30 P.M. The Hourglass Cats
6:30 P.M. – 8 P.M. Sydney Collins & Bryan Hawkesworth
8 P.M. – 9:30 P.M. Gus Campbell
9:30 P.M. – 11 P.M. Carvin Jones

McDowell Mountain Music Festival has been around since 2004. In that time, it has brougt the community together through its annual gatherings celebrating music and the arts. The event attracts people from around the world and has booked popular national acts, such as David Crosby, The Shins, The Black Crowes and The Roots, and local favorites, including Black Carl, Dry River Yacht Club and Jared & the Mill. MMMF was recently announced as Readers’ Choice Award for “Best Music Festival” in Phoenix New Times‘ 2014 Best of Awards.
