Phoenix Indie Music Meetup

The Phoenix Indie Music Meetup began in May 2008 as a way to bring together fans of independent music. Members of the group meet to attend shows together, exchange music and connect with like-minded individuals.

Is there a show you want to attend and don’t know anyone going? Connect with the group, they’ll put it on their calendar and you can possibly find someone to go with you. A potential new friend is met, and great music is listened to. It’s a win-win.

The group also meets once a month for a CD exchange. Members will create mix CDs, often under a specific theme, and swap them with other members as a way to discover new music.

According to their website, the group is primarily interested in:

indie rock, shoegaze, neo folk, hip hop, noise pop, math rock, folktronica, alt-country, dance rock, freak folk, dream pop, lo-fi, Britpop, emo, glam rock, garage, rockabilly, gypsy punk, new wave, post-punk, experimental, prog-rock, riot Grrrrl, space rock, twee pop, and just good ol’ fashioned rock n’ roll.

“If you understood any of that, then you probably belong here.”

For more information, or to request a membership, visit the Meetup website.

If you’d like to catch members of the group in action, they will be participating in My Favorite 15 (Songs Of All Time) at Crescent Ballroom on Monday, Nov. 28. The free show begins at 7:00 P.M. in the lounge.
