If you’ve yet to pick out your costume, you might not be as pumped about the holiday as everyone else seemingly is. As far as you’re concerned, family, friends and strangers are just going to have to deal with your last-minute ensemble and can save their judgement as next year’s costume.

But if you don’t want to be the buzzkill of festivities (can that be a costume?), now is the time to sort through your closet and thrift stores to put together something…anything. Procrastinated costumes tend to be conversation starters,  inexpensive, and the best way to avoid the hot mess that is a costume store during October.

As your friend, and purveyor of music news, we’ve got your back when it comes to costume ideas. Every year there are numerous stories published about celebrities that make you question if newsworthiness was even a thought. Still, the most random stories are often the most popular. So, if you dress according to music news of 2013, you might be a pretty big deal this Halloween (after you repeatedly explain to the drunkards what you are supposed to be).

Check out four do-it-yourself costumes that showcase musicians in the news this year…

DANIEL RAMOS, THE PAPARAZZO KANYE WEST HAD IN A HEADLOCK
This costume might already exist in your wardrobe. Daniel Ramos, also known as Dano, is the TMZ paparazzo who Yeezy allegedly went H.A.M. on at LAX. Now we’re not condoning the behavior of West, but what is Halloween if not an opportunity to dress up as the photographer that Yeezus himself had in a headlock?  All you need is black and gray sneakers, a navy blue shirt and medium wash jeans. Bonus points if you walk around all night as if you’re in a headlock, file a lawsuit or get Mr. West to go to a few Halloween parties with you.

MILEY CYRUS’ TONGUE
Miley Cyrus‘ tongue has been sticking out for years. In fact, it’s sadly been more talked about than important news — scary, right? To dress the part and get tongues wagging, put together a monochromatic outfit featuring varying shades of pink and red. You can even add a white jacket or sweater. After all, Cyrus’ tongue has been known to sport a white layer and yes, there are even news articles about it (1, 2, 3, you get the idea).

JUSTIN BIEBER’S VOMIT
Remember that one time Justin Bieber vomited on stage in Phoenix and later tweeted “milk was a bad choice”? OK, OK. This happened last year, but milk looks like a good choice for this year’s Halloween costume. If this story is not timely enough for you, perhaps you might consider dressing up as Bieber’s urine in a restaurant’s mop bucket. Either way,  a neutral, monochromatic outfit should do the trick. Being Bieber’s bodily fluids is the perfect, cost-effective alternative to undergoing thousands of dollars worth of plastic surgery to look like the pop star…unless you are Toby Sheldon.

FIONA APPLE AT TOKYO FASHION PARTY
Fiona Apple reportedly stormed off stage in frustration, after numerous attempts to quiet down the audience  during her performance at a Tokyo fashion party. Apple later commented on the situation, explaining that the back-of-the-room chatter had escalated to straight up INTERRUPTION. Why not be an advocate for showing a little R.E.S.P.E.C.T. at shows? Let’s make this Halloween productive, people. We don’t know what Apple was wearing on the evening of the “meltdown,” but channel your inner Apple with an all-black-everything outfit. Bonus points if you carry around a bell (what the songstress rang in an attempt to get the audience’s attention) or get loud at someone who won’t simmer down.
