Mad Howard Debut EP Fundraiser on Kickstarter, Trunk Space Show

Madison Howard, better known as Mad Howard, has been writing songs for more than half of her life, which sounds even more impressive when you find out that she is only 15 years old.

At six, she was writing lyrics and dreaming about being a musician. But after her first taste of a recording studio, which resulted in her debut single “The Pen,” Howard felt the need to finish what she started.

The ” girl that lives in 100+ degree weather each day” and “mostly…sings about the ocean,” shows a potential and passion that isn’t found in many others of the same age. Howard knows the difficulties that can come with making it in the music industry. “Recording takes a lot of hard work, imagination, creativity, SWEAT, and funds. And, I mean, I can handle the creativity and sweat, but, I’m a little short on funds.”

In an effort to see her dreams realized, she has started a Kickstarter to raise funds for the production of her debut EP, appropriately titled Not Waiting Around.

“I want YOU to be a part of this.  I want you to hear me.  I need your help,” she writes.

The goal is to earn $2,000 by Monday, Sept. 24, just two weeks away. So far, Howard has nine pledgers who have donated $375. Backers rewards include shout outs, handwritten lyrics, a hard copy of the EP, a backer shirt made by Howard herself, a guitar string bracelet made from a string Howard has played and even the chance to have the artist perform an acoustic set in someone’s backyard.

In addition to the Kickstarter page, Howard will be playing a fundraiser show at the Trunk Space on Saturday, Sept. 15. The no-cover event will include raffles and commentary from Howard on her music. The venue will have drinks available for purchase and Howard and friends will provide the food. For more information or to RSVP for the show, visit the event page on Facebook.
