From The Basement Offers Sound Environment

If you’ve dreamt about watching your favorite musician perform for you only, From the Basement is (essentially) your dream realized.

The project features intimate music sessions without host or audience. Just the artist showcasing his or her art.

“My own personal goal is that in the future some of these performances might be seen as the truest representation of the state of their artists work, captured in a way that lets their talents speak without the interference of presenters, or audiences,” Nigel Godrich, creator of the project, writes on the website. “If we can even touch on that kind of directness and quality then I think the whole project will have been a success.

Several musicians have recorded From the Basement sessions, including Beck, Eels, Jarvis Cocker, Albert Hammond Jr., PJ Harvey, Thom Yorke, Radiohead, the now defunct White Stripes, and CSS, who will be playing Oct. 11 at Crescent Ballroom.

Watch, listen and enjoy the sessions on the From the Basement website.
