Saint Motel’s Infectious Aural Catharsis

Saint Motel by Jess Chanen

Saint Motel is a quartet that is very difficult to describe. I’ve had “Benny Goodman,” off of their first full-length album, Voyeur, on rotation for a few weeks now.

If this track were a meal, the first two words out of my very full mouth would be none other than savory and juicy. It’s as if Dent May turned serious (as much as he could) and teamed up with a DJ and a 70’s rock keyboardist.

I cannot wait until Saint Motel plays with Races and Sun Ghost at the Rhythm Room on August 7. I wish I could listen to them live while drinking out of the official Saint Motel flask. August 7 may fall on a Tuesday, but I’m already expecting their concert to be the highlight of my week.
