MP3: Yukon Blonde ‘Saturday Night’

Yukon Blonde band, Yukon Blonde music

If you live for the weekend, consider Yukon Blonde’s “Saturday Night” your dance partner in crime. It’s funky, synthy and catchy enough to coax anyone onto the dance floor.

The band of five that hails from Vancouver has been busy making new music with engineer and co-producer Colin Stewart (Black Mountain, Dan Mangan, Sleepy Sun) and mixer Tony Hoffer (M83, Beck, Foster the People, Air, Depeche Mode). Time not spent in the studio has been dedicated to the open road. Yukon Blonde performed at this year’s SXSW festival; recently finished a tour with Lieutenant, the brainchild of Nate Mendel (Foo FightersSunny Day Real Estate); and has gigs scheduled through August.

A new album, the third from the band, will be released soon enough. Until then, charge up on this indie pop single — an ode to weekend warriors.
