MP3: King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard ‘Hot Water’

King Gizzard, I'm in Your Mind Fuzz, King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard, Hot Water single, Heavenly Recordings, Melbourne band, Melbourne music

King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard debuted “Hot Water” in preparation for the album I’m In Your Mind Fuzz, which was released Nov. 11 on Heavenly Recordings. This Jethro TullGrateful Dead fusion, with a String Cheese energy, acts as a good entry point for anyone interested in the  Melbourne-based group. Most bands that strive for a retro sound or feel either succeed and create a sympathetically nostalgic vibe, or in their failure produce a pathetic attempt at mimicry. King Gizzard has produced a track that sounds like a record that was lost in the back of a store in 1968, only recently resurfacing.

The single, although brief, establishes a solid psychedelic sound that, if carried throughout, will provide an accessible album for the more mainstream part of American audiences.

Listen to the track below and if you feel compelled by the sound, pick up the new album out now...
