Mix: Songs We Love Right Now, Vol. I

This is The Spec‘s first installment of “Song We Love Right Now,” a mix dedicated to tunes that are stuck on repeat (in our heads and our music players).

What are The Spec ladies enamored with now? Listen and learn below…

APRIL’S PICKS:
Artist: Summer Camp | Song: Down
I found these gumdrops bouncing around Twitter, excited about their new single. Album Welcome to Condale will be released on Nov. 8. Quick, go here and you can stream the entire album for a sweet & surfy afternoon.

Artist: We Are The City | Song:  Dark/Warm Air
Newsflash! We Are The City is coming Rhythm Room next Tuesday and The Spec will be there! Join us for a great night of music. Do you have any questions you want us to ask in our upcoming interview with the band? Let us know!

Artist: La Sera | Song: Never Come Around
It’s finally cooling down but I’m feeling this summery tune released in January.

Artist: Super Stereo | Song: Life Passed Me By
Our yearly sacrifices to the Arizona sun god have been rewarded with this glorious ‘future-pop’ band, borne out of sunny Tempe.”

Artist: Allo’ Darlin | Song: My Heart is a Drummer
Remember the home phone in the kitchen? The one with the long and twisty cord?

And when you call me on the telephone/my fingers will twist through the cord/and I’ll slide my feet up and down the wall

ALEXIS’ PICKS:

Au Palais – Tender Mercy by Sound Injections
A 4-track EP by this brother and sister duo drops Nov. 28!

Artist: White Arrows | Song: Coming Or Going (RAC Remix)
Just saw White Arrows play at Crescent Ballroom and I’m digging this remix of “Coming Or Going” off the debut album.

Artist: Mister Heavenly | Song: Charlyne
Together, Honus Honus of Man Man, Nicholas Thorburn of Islands and The Unicorns, and Joe Plummer of Modest Mouse and The Shins, comprise Mister Heavenly.

Artist: Of Monsters and Men | Song: Love Love Love
The music and her voice grabbed me, but the lyrics are what held me in.

Artist: Hooray For Earth | Song: True Loves
I was cleaning house last week and this gem played on my TV. It was love at first listen.

DEE’S PICKS:

Artist: CANT | Song: Too Late, Too Far
CANT is the solo project of Grizzly Bear‘s Chris Taylor. I haven’t stopped listening to it. Simple as that.

Artist: Bare Wires | Song: Ready to Go
I can’t take full credit for getting into Bare Wires. My good friend Calvin Love, of Just An Animal, introduced me to the band a couple months ago and the rest is history.

Artist: The Strange Boys | Song: Night Might
The Strange Boys have been one of my favorite bands for some time. I’ve seen them perform live a couple times. Never a disappointment.

Artist: Purity Ring | Song: Lofticries
Purity Ring played in a packed tent at FYF Fest this year. I was in the last standing row of the tent, couldn’t see over all the heads, and still had the time of my life.

Artist: Drake | Song: Dreams Money Can Buy
I’ve been stuck on all of the new song releases from Drake. I’m bummed that the Take Care release date was pushed back (to Nov. 15), but as it goes: Good things come to those who wait.
