Mix: The 90s, Vol. II

The 90s were favored for Giga pets, JNCO jeans, unwashed hair and most importantly, music. This decade, in which we did most of our growing up, was a time when a lot was happening in the music industry. For us, the years before Y2K saw music as a true art form.

Check out volume one of our 90s mix here and listen to more of our favorite songs from the decade below…

Artist: Natalie Merchant | Song: Wonder
The 90s produced some great female singers. Whenever I’m feeling nostalgic I revisit them.

Artist: Bel Biv DeVoe | Song: Poison
One of the most recognizable hooks from the decade.

Artist: Lauren Hill | Song: Doo Wop (That Thing)
Where in the world is Lauren Hill?

Artist: Beck | Song: Loser
I feel like everyone who lived in the 90s knows the line, “I’m a loser baby, so why don’t you kill me.” Am I wrong?

Artist: Blind Melon | Song: No Rain
Someone gave me  a Blind Melon CD as a kid and I specifically remember listening to this song on repeat.

Artist: Honey is Cool | Song: Drums & Boys
Before The Knife and Fever RayKarin Dreijer had Honey is Cool.

Artist: Belle & Sebastian | Song: The Boy with the Arab Strap
I didn’t listen to Belle & Sebastian during the 90s, but I appreciate their work from the decade.

Artist: Le Tigre | Song: Eau D’ Bedroom Dancing

Artist: A Tribe Called Quest | Song: Wordplay
Smooth. Classic 90’s hip-hop.

Artist: Natalie Imbruglia | Song: Torn
Didn’t everybody love this song?

Artist: Rage Against the Machine | Song: Bulls on Parade
Their music always gets me so pumped, especially this one.

Artist: No Doubt | Song: Just a Girl
This is when my crush on Gwen Stefani began.

Artist: Mark Morrison | Song: Return of the Mack
I still get down to this. So catchy and I love his voice.

Artist: Fiona Apple | Song: Criminal
My mom always played this song on our way to school.

Artist: Ol’ Dirty Bastard feat. Kelis | Song: Got Your Money
Probably shouldn’t have been listening to ODB at such a young age, but I had older brothers. I also enjoyed dancing around to this one when my mom wasn’t home.
