What I Learned at Bandcamp: Crown Larks

Crown Larks, Bandcamp, Trunk Space

“Hushed whispers, damaged screams, sax, clarinet, trumpet, flute, searing guitar, unhinged drums, bent electronics, volcanic organ and more caravan through both dynamic freakouts, hypnotic minimalism, and eccentric songs in which poetic lyrics are soon swallowed by crushing feedback,” reads a press release from Chicago’s Crown Larks .

The band has been touring for years across the United States and on April 7, released its debut album, Blood Dancer. The seven-track album “channels both the grinding bleakness and dynamic energy of their native city.”

The four piece, comprised of songwriters Jack Bouboushian and Lorraine Bailey, drummer Bill Miller and multi-instrumentalist Chris Boonenberg, will make a stop at Trunk Space in Phoenix on April 16.

Listen to tracks from Blood Dancer below and catch Crown Larks live at the Trunk Space tonight…
