What I Learned at Bandcamp: Idiot Glee

James Friley is a 24-year-old musician from Lexington, Ky who I had the pleasure of seeing perform back in February at Crescent Ballroom.

He was charming and funny, and had one of the best tour posters I’d ever seen. We gave him a card and said we’d be in touch at a later date. So, here we are.

Friley started writing piano pieces at the age of seven and began performing under the name Idiot Glee about three years ago. His most recent release Paddywhack came out in June and is available for streaming or purchase on Bandcamp.

Continue reading to find out how Friley came up with the name Idiot Glee, among other things…

Who/what are your influences?

What inspires your music?
People…babes, something I see on the side of the road, my breakfast, my dog, what my skin feels like, local shows, sleepiness.

I enjoy it the most.
