What I Learned at Bandcamp: G-Eazy

Gerald Gillum, better-known as G-Eazy, is a New Orleans-based hip-hop artist who grew up in Northern California. He creates most of his own beats, sampling music from the 50s, 60s and indie artists of today.

He currently records all of his music in his bedroom and remains unsigned. However, the newcomer seems to be gaining support from the hip-hop community, as he’s been an opener for Lil Wayne, Drake and Snoop Dogg.

The 22-year-old artist recently graduated from Loyola University with a degree in Music Industry Studies and just completed a nation-wide tour with fellow rapper Shwayze.

In August, he self-released The Endless Summer, which is available for free on Bandcamp. The album samples music from Tennis, Grizzly Bear, LCD Soundsystem and Dion & The Belmonts.
