Videos: Hip-Hop

Below, check out some of The Spec‘s favorite hip-hop videos…

Who knew that a video with cops, speeding, fighting, jumping, climbing, aviator sunglasses, walkie talkies and donuts could be so great? The Beastie Boys, that’s who.

Kanye West sites his favorite music video of his as “Flashing Lights,” but our favorite has to be the full-length video for “Runaway.” The 30-minute film, written by Hype Williams, features several tracks from West’s fifth full-length album, My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy (2010). Mr. West may be an arrogant, stage-stealing, Bush-bashing weirdo, but he’s clever at his craft.

And so began the “To Be Continued…” rap video.

This video, directed by Spike Jonze, came out eight months after Biggie’s death and features children in place of  Lil Kim, Faith Evans, Busta Rhymes Puffy and Biggie.

Featuring Mike Tyson, Shaq, Ben Stiller, Mark Curry, Dave Navarro, Travis Barker, Black Rob, Baron Davis, Xzibit, Pat O’Brien, Ice Cube, Snoop Dogg, Farnsworth Bentley and Crazy Town… phew.
