When MTV was launched in 1981, it was intended to be a station for playing music videos. Its sister channel VH1 debuted in 1985 with the same purpose. Somewhere along the line, these popular stations lost their connection to VJs and music videos, and tuned into reality TV series and scripted shows.

There are still channels dedicated to sharing music videos, but none are quite like Heavy Metal Television.

Launched in November 2012, Heavy Metal Television streams metal music videos — from classics to currents — all day long. The online TV station is based out of Mesa, Ariz. but has garnered a global audience. It is free and accessible to anyone, anywhere.

HMTV has future plans to incorporate live concert footage, interviews, rare clips of metal musicians, and much more. But don’t worry, the VJs and videos will rock on.

Stream the station online at and stay up to date on all HMTV news via Facebook.
