On Wednesday, Aug. 1, Crescent Ballroom will host Murder by Death, Chris Chisel and the Wandering Sons, and Ha Ha Tonka. The three midwestern bands, seasoned with years in the music industry, offer a blend of rock, folk and country. The Spec, courtesy of Psyko Steve, is giving one person a pair of tickets to the show.

Find out more about the artists and how to win tickets, below…

WHO: Murder by Death (derived from the 1970’s Robert Moore film of the same name), formerly called Little Joe Gould.

FROM: Bloomington, Ind.

GENRE(S): rock, folk, alt-country

FORMED: 2000

FUN FACT: The band currently has a Kickstarter to fund the vinyl production of their new album Bitter Drink, Bitter Moon, due September 25 on Bloodshot Records. They have a little more than $10,000 to raise by August 10, to reach their goal of $100,000.

Now, some people might think vinyl records are an outdated technology but we feel very strongly […] that vinyl not only delivers the highest quality sound experience, but can also be a thing of beauty. Presenting the art in glorious large format makes each record a keepsake and a treasure.
