Summer Ends Music Festival will feature live performances by The Replacements, Foster the People, Capital Cities, Descendents, Violent Femmes, Fitz & the Tantrums and more than 20 other popular acts. The inaugural three-day festival will take place September 26-28 at Tempe Beach Park.  Tickets are on sale now: three-day passes for $250 and single-day passes for $65.

Through September 24, The Spec will be publishing interviews with bands on the lineup and giving away tickets to the event.

Murrieta formed in 2010 and released its debut full-length album, A Head & Hand, in February. The sextet from MesaGilbert plays folk music in the realm of their influences — Manchestra Orchestra, Mumford & Sons, Bon Iver, The Shins and Ryan Adams. The band will perform on day one of Summer Ends Music Fest.

Explain the moment you knew that you wanted to be a musician?
MS: My uncle showed me a cool song he wrote on the guitar. I immediately bought my own and taught myself to play.
RD: In seventh grade, we had a talent show for our school. Fat Man’s Circus performed a cover of Green Day’s “Brain Strew.” It got me so pumped I signed up for guitar lessons that week.

Recent concert you attended as a fan and your favorite memory from it.
MS: James Taylor. He came out for three separate encores. All were equally amazing.
RD: Twenty One Pilots. The drummer played his drums on a platform being held by the audience.

Finish the following sentences:

Everyone thinks my music is

RD: good

but I think it is…
